Spring Broken?

We have been in the middle of the classic spring slump in the cinema world, but there may be a movie that can break this long streak of terrible flops. It has just been released and it is doing pretty well in the eyes of many notable critics. You have seen the previews, but you may not know what movie I am talking about. "Spring Breakers" has caused quiet the post-release buzz going despite having a sub-par advertising campaign that left viewers at home instead of in the seats at theaters.

This movie was not an overwhelmingly easy assignment by any means for the team preparing the advertising and marketing campaign.  The cast of a former Disney star (Selena Gomez) and three other young attractive females paired with James Franco isn't exactly a recipe for a blockbuster. However despite this seemly unusual cast they were able to put together a great performance that provides the audience with a fun viewing experience.

Despite knowing the potential of this film before it was released the promotions team was able to generate any buzz.  The commercials were flashy but somehow many people dismissed the movie right away because of the perceived lack of actual content.  Give this trailer a look.  The folks who put it together gave us two minutes that really had empty content.  It almost appears to be just another parody movie that has been made time and time again.  Print ads and social media campaigns gave us the same empty notion.  Bright colors, attractive women, big guns but all of these things give us no story.

Due to the mostly failed campaign the movie opened with mediocre box office draws. Hopefully the critics and moviegoers can breath some life into this film were its promotions team failed to.
